GREAT PUBLIC INTEREST IN EXHIBITION AT HAY'S, LIMITED. CONTINUED ALL NEXT WEEK.
SINCE the international poster and railway exhibition opened at Hay’s, Limited, last Tuesday, it has been attended by thousands of adults and children. This exhibition is quite unique. Attractively displayed in bays, country by country, are hundreds of beautiful scenic posters from nearly 40 different countries. Likewise there are hundreds of photographs and copies of paintings of railway engines from many different countries. Then the complete system of model railways has been a nteverending source of interest to young and old—six complete trains, drawn by models of famous engines, run electrically on 500 feet of track. INTERESTING COMPETITIONS. In connection with the exhibition interesting competitions are being held, with valuable prizes for the winners. Each child attending the exhibition receives en entry form with full particulars. Some of the prizes are really novel. For instance. the first prize in the Boys' competition is a free ride on the express engine between Christchurch and Timaru and back again. For the other competitions one of the prizes is the stamps on the parcels and letters received by Hay’s, Limited, from all parts of the world. Parcels of interesting pamphlets from all parts of the world are amongst the other prizes. The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m., and is closed for half an hour from noon to 12.30. Also it will not be open on Tuesday morning until 11.30, as a private reception is bei*g accorded Dame Sybil Thorndike. who is visiting the exhibition on that morning. 1885
