U.S. Ranks Seventeenth and Britain Eleventh. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. WASHINGTON, January 12. The United States ranks seventeenth in military strength among the world’s nations, said General Douglas MacArthur, Chief of Staff, to the House Appropriations Committee.- She has 132,069 men on active service, and 307,120 on the reserve. The British Empire ranks eleventh with 403,182 on the active list, 711,453 on the reserve, and 48,569 in the Air Force. He placed Russia, France and Italy first, second, and third, respectively, as follows:
