UNDRUM NOT WORRIED.
New Billiards Rule Does Not Affect Him. LONDON, January 6. Walter Lindrum announces that he will return to England next season and play billiards under the new baulkline rule, after going to South Africa with Clark M’Conachy, and from there to Australia. He says that it is immaterial whether he plays under he baulk-line rule or “ three card trick rules ”, at which his friends say he is “ no mug The billiards correspondent of the “ Daily Mail ” regards as amusing the suggestion that the baulk-line rule restricts Lindrum. He says that an expert, discussing the point, said “ that fellow could make breaks with a walking stick and three oranges.” The baulk-line rule, introduced chiefly to counteract Lindrum’s ability to score enormous breaks with nursery cannons, provides that the cue ball must cross the baulk line at least once in every 200 points.
