CYCLED HOME.
Schoolboys Travel Over Lewis Pass. Five West Coast pupils of St Bede’s College have reached their homes after five days’ cycling. In a spirit of adventure the boys, J. M’Mahon, J. Magee, J. Morris, M. Quinn and W. lieffernan, decided to return home at the end of the term by cycling over the Lewis Pass. Each boy carried a map and a light pack containing sleeping gear and food. They were four days on the 123 mile stretch between Christchurch and Maruia Springs, bad .southerly weather being encountered on the way. The boys were then fifty miles from Reefton, and the ride home took only another day.
