SPORTS TOURNAMENT.

Games at Sunnyside Hospital. The twenty-sixth Anniversary Day lawn tennis, cricket and bowling tournament arranged by a committee chosen from the staff of the Sunnyside Menial Hospital was held to-day in fine weather. The tournament i» arranged to help raise funds to provide Christmas cheer for the inmates. Arrangements were in the hands of Mr T. W. Ttoae. A series of tennis matches were played between members of the staff and Public Service employees. Results were as follows: Men's singles—Dr Brown lost to F. Williams, 0-6. 2-6; Marshall lost to Plimmer, 0-6, 2-6. Men's doubles—Smith and Spence beat Palph and Auton, 6-2. 4-6, 6-2: Lewi« and Brown lost to Williams and , 4-6. 1-6. Women’s doubles—Misses Donaldson and M Dowell lost to Miss Hook ham and Mrs Burrell, 1-6; Mesdames Blanfort and M’Klllop lost to Miss Edmonds and Plimmer, 4-6: Misses Davis and Williams lost to Mesdames Kenny and Crichton, 4-6. Cricket. In the cricket match between a Public Service team and one from the Runnyside staff. Public Service at 2.30 had lost eight wickets for 201 runs. Bowling. Sixteen rinks from various City clubs competed in the bowling tournament, which was started in 1907 by Dr Gow, a former medical superintendent, and has been held ever since, except in 1917 and 1922.
