ST NINIAN’S GUILD.

Annual Meeting Held at Riccarton. The St Ninian’s Ladies’ Guild held its anntial meeting in St Ninian’s Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The Rev J. Allan (chairman) presided over an excellent attendance of members. Mrs W. Edginton (president) and Mrs B. J. Robinson (honorary secretary and treasurer) were also present. The report and balance-sheet were read by Mrs B. J. Robinson, and a review of the past year’s activities and progress was made. The guild has held during the year six meetings, which were well attended. Two were gift socials to assist Christmas cheer funds and gifts for the orphanages, and one to benefit the unemployed. The orphanages have received eighty-four garments and one hundred gifts of books and toys and one hundred jars of jam; £2 8s in cash has also been given, and £3 13s 9d has been spent in buying material: A donation of £1 has been given to St Ninian’s Sunday School, and renovations to hall curtains amounted to 7s 6d. The guild has sent to the Riccarton and Ferry Road relief depots 210 garments, 70 of which were new, and the others were in first-class condition. A donation of £2 8s was sent to Mr M’Master for the Unemployment Fund. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance in hand. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs W. Edginton; vice-presidents, Mesdames A. Doig, T. A. Mac Gibbon, and G. Ferguson; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs B. J. Robinson; Social Committee, Mesdames J. Barber, I. H. Heyward, G. Ferguson, M’Leod, J. Askew, B. J. Robinson and W. Edginton. It was decided to send a reply to Mrs Royds, advising her that helpers from St Ninian’s Guild would assist at the relief depot. Ferry Road, during the month of November. The following ladies were asked to help: Mesdames W. Edginton, G. Ferguson, B. J. Robinson, A. Doig, I. Heyward, Misses Dorothy Doig and M. Washbourne. It was decided to hold a gift afternoon on December 6 to aid the Christmas cheer for orphanages. The Rev J. Allan (chairman) in a few remarks, said it was most encouraging to note the progress that had been made, and extended a vote of hearty thanks to Mesdames W. Edginton (president) and B. J. Robinson (honorary secretary) and to all the guild members for their willing services rendered to the church and to others in need. Mrs W. Edginton and Miss M. Washbourne replied suitably. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies.
