The tone of the market continues to be quiet and only a small number of sales has been recorded in the last twenty-four hours. The rise in Waihis appears to have been checked, and at the morning call the line was again on offer at the last sale price, namely 18s, but buyers were only a penny lower. Bank shares were again dull, and insurances were firm; South British had buyers at 575, and no sellers. Wilson’s Cements have steadied since the dividend announcement, and holders now ask 335. Government stocks show virtually no change at the morning call. A parcel of Williamson’s Films 71 per cent debentures was on offer at par. SOUTH BRITISH INSURANCE. (Special to' the " Star.**) DUNEDIN, November 1. All the South Island Dairy Association’s factories, numbering 110, are working, and a big increase in output has been reported. The first shipment Home from the south will be loaded on the Rangitiki from Bluff and Dunedin about the middle of November. MOUNT LULL XZNINO. Mount Lyell Mining Company’s progress report for the fortnight ended October 19, 1932, is as follows: North Mount Lyell Mine—Tons extracted 6784. 850 ft level. No. 44 mullock pass to 45ft through old filling. 1100 ft level, No. 11 crosscut, commencing from No. 41 stope, advanced to 3ft through schist and suspended. 1300 ft lev&l, No. 2 rise to 65ft through pyritlsed quartzite. Crown Lyell Mine—Tons extracted 2543. At the surface transfer pass drive advanced to 94ft through low grade schisty ore and discontinued. 200 ft level, mullock pass rise to 31ft through low grade ore. Royal Tharsis Mine—Tons extracted 1150. No. 3 level, • Tharsis shaft lifted to 527 ft above 1100 ft level, through pyritised grey schist carrying a fair amount of chalcopyrite. No. 7 level, No. 7 ore pass rise, commencing from transport drive, lifted to Bft through pyritised schist.

Lyell Comstock Mine—Tons extracted 5407. No. 5 level, shaft sunk to 109 ft through grey schist with patches of pyritised quartzite. No. 6 level, north drive, commencing from north side of plat, advanced to 15ft through schist carrying a fair amount of chalcopyrite; south drive, commencing from south side of plat, advanced to 15ft through schisty ore. Reduction Works—Furnace not in blast during period. Concentrator—Mill operated 336 hours and treated 15,364 tons ore, producing 1511 tons of concentrates. Copper Refinery—Tank house in operation during fortnight. 428 tons of cathode copper being produced during that period; total for current year, 572 tons. MOUNT ZSA PRODUCTION. For the week ended Saturday, October 22, 1167 tons of silver-lead bullion were sent to Townsville from Mount Isa, and 1037 tons of silver-lead bullion were recovered from 13,870 tons of crude ore. DIVIDEND WITHHELD. The Wellington Deposit, Mortgage and Building Association, Ltd., advises that the directors have considered the question of an interim dividend for the half-yearly period ended September 30 last, and that under the existing adverse financial conditions they deem it advisable to withhold the payment of a dividend on this occasion.

The directors of Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat and Mercantile Co., Ltd., recommend the payment of one year’s freezing and mercantile preference dividend out of the profit of £3145 earned for the year ended August 31. Freezing preference shares receive 6 per cent and mercantile preference 7 per cent. A dividend on both classes was last paid in 1929. In addition to the paid capital of £213,920, the company has £300,000 debentures on issue.
