FIGHTING IN STREET.

Two Men Come to Blows at Lyttelton. John Harold Parsons was charged in the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court this morning, before Messrs J. T. Norton, J.P., and T. Mahar, J.P., with fighting in a public place. Parsons pleaded guilty, and was fined £l. The accused stated that he had attended a social function. An argument had arisen and he had come to blows with Neil M'Cormack. Neil M’Cormack was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. He also pleaded guilty to charges of fighting in London Street with Parsons, and damaging a mug valued at Is, the property of the Police Department. M’Cormack admitted that, as the result of having a few drinks, he had fought Parsons. In reply to a question from the Bench, Parsons said he was a relief worker. M’Cormack said he was a casual worker. M'Cormack was convicted and discharged on the charge of drunkenness, fined £1 for fighting, and ordered to pay the cost of a new mug. Other Gases Heard. John M’Dougal Arneil, a second defendant for drunkenness, was fined 10s. A week was allowed each of the accused in which to pay the fines.
