DANCE FOR CHARITY.
Large Gathering at North Beach. Organised by the Social Committee of the North Beach Progress League and Beautifying Association to aid the Mayor’s Distress Fund, the charity dance held at the Peace Memorial Hall was a distinct success, and the worthy cause should receive a well-earned benefit. During the evening items were given by Mrs Marsh, Messrs S. H. Gibbs and E. Butterfield, and a community sing was held. Mr A. Peverill (president of the association) welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress. Mr E. A. M. Leaver (Mayor of New Brighton) thanked the association for its effort in organising the dance and all those present for their patronage and support. A quarter of a ton of coal was donated by Messrs C. M’Clatchie and Co., for the benefit of the fund. The music was supplied by Miss Maisie Ottey and an extra was played by Mrs M. Kelly. The supper arrangements were in charge of the Ladies’ Committee and Mr L. Moore was M.C. A lucky spot dance was won by Mrs M’lntosh and Mr F. Scott and a Monte Carlo number was won by Mrs T. W.
