STALL FUNDS AIDED.

Dance Held in Merivale Schoolroom. ST GEORGE'S MARKET. One of the many successful efforts to augment the funds of the stall at the forthcoming St George’s Market was held last night in the Merivale schoolroom, when Mesdames W. B. Clarkson, Adam Smith, F. S. M’Kechnie and W. U. Webley were hostesses for a delightful dance. The hall was tastefully decorated with orange, green and lemon streamers in a canopy effect, and masses of spring blossom and foliage transformed the stage platform into a pretty bower. Matron D. Thwaites, wearing an attractive frock of black satin with a cross-over bodice, and Mrs Edmund Cross, in black chiffon velvet with a short white fur coat, were the guests of honour. Supper was in the hands of the Organising Committee, whose members were also the hostesses. The proceeds will aid the sweets and cake stall. Music for the dancing was supplied by Fritz Seymour’s Orchestra. Among those present were:—Alesdames M’Bain Stewart, Tan Jamieson and D. P. Lindsay; Misses Stephanie Scott, Betty Pickering, E.
