VARSITY HARRIERS.
Otago Meet Canterbury on F riday. NEW CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE. The second annual contest between teams representing the Otago University Harrier Club and the Canterbury College Club will be held at Cashmere on Friday over the new Canterbury championship course of six and a quarter miles, starting and finishing at the old stone house on the Cracroft Wilson The Canterbury College team has been selected as follows:—L. S. Bambery (captain), W. E. Parrott, J. Wilson, G. A. Smith, O. C. Harley and N. W. Ain Ivey This team is the best available, for A. P. Thomson, the club champion, is ineligible to compete, as the rules of the race, following University Tournament regulations, exclude firstyear men. The following will represent Otago:— A. Ross, F. Harris, A. Stewart, J. Mackie, W. J. Watt and R. Mathewson. Five of these runners were in last year’s team.
The Otago team will arrive by the Thursday night express train and will return on Saturday morning to Dunedin. They will be guests of the local club at the first Varsity Harriers’ ball at Frascati Cabaret on Friday evening.
