Ladies’ Golf Match at Charteris Bay.

The senior L.G.U. medal match played at Charteris Bay during the weekend was won by Miss M. Sowden. 92 —12 —80, with Miss Edna Ayers, 96—13—83, runner-up. Miss Sowden also won a play’-off of a tie with Miss Eunice Sproule in an eclectic match for a trophy presented by Mrs H. Ayers. Miss Sowden’s score for nine sealed holes was 45—7—38. Billiards Tournament.

D. Collins was the winner of the flying fifty’ billiards tournament played at the Lyttelton Club on Monday evening. E. Muxlow was runner-up. Spring Growth.

Roses are still in bloom in some of the more sheltered positions in the port. In addition, spring flowers may’ be seen in a number of gardens. It is expected that, provided the weather remains reasonably dry, local gardeners will commence sowing potatoes and other vegetables on hilly plots where the ground is in fairly good order. In some of the local gardens peas are about four or five inches above the ground.
