New Zealanders Play in Sydney. United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, August 1. The New Zealand hockey team's first fixture in Sydney was the match against Metropolitan at Rushcutters Bay to-day. The game was played in beautiful weather, and ended in a draw, 4 all. The visitors' forwards displayed brilliant combination, enabling Turbitt and Reid to score. Metropolitan took a hand, and attacked, but excellent defence held them at bay until nearly half-time, when they scored twice, making the half-time score:—New Zealand 2, Metropolitan 2. The Metropolitan for.wards showed better stick work after the interval, but again found the New Zealanders’ defence solid. Then both sides scored a goal, the New Zealanders' being from a penalty corner. Wellbourne put his side in front with a scorching shot from the edge of the circle. Not long afterwards Hogg, for the locals, equalised. The outstanding New Zealanders were Munro, Joblin, Turbitt and Wellbourne. Victory at Tenterfield. The New Zealand team defeated Tenterfield on Saturday by fourteen goals to one. The visitors were far too good for their opponents. Turbitt and Anthony shone throughout. The former scored seven goals, Anthony six and Roberta The visitors were given a civic reception at night. The local Mayor. Aiderman Petherick, said that it was a compliment for a tearp from a sister dominion to visit Tenterfield. The manager, Mr Holland, replied, saying that the team was receiving the utmost hospitality.
