TO WASH AND STARCH A COLLAR.

Wash the collar thoroughly before starching. Prepare a cold water starch in the following way:—Take a tablespoonlul of starch, to which a little borax has been added, and place in a basin and mix With i, cup of cold water. Have ready some boiling water and add about J cup to the starch, stirring well. After starching the collar, wring well and wrap in a cloth. When moderately dry, prepare for ironing by rubbing and pulling it well into shape and to take out the creases. Have ready a hot iron and iron briskly on the wrong side, then on the right till fairly stiff, and then on the wrong again until the collar is dry and glossy. After the collar has been starched and ironed an additional gloss is easily applied by means of a small iron rounded at the bottom. The broad rounded end of the iron should be pressed firmly upon the collar and moved to and fro rapidly until friction produces the desired gloss. Using a rounded iron gives a better finish to the collar
