WOMEN’S AUXILIARY MEETS
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association met yesterday afternoon. Present:— Mesdames H. T. J. Thacker (in the chair), A. J. Benzie, J. I. Royds, W. E. Wright, J. S. Kelly. F. W. W. Dawson, L. H. Powell, H. A. Bishop, J. C. Holmes, A. Morten, Misses Rogers, Thelma Raphael, A. Bowker, A. M. Cuthbert and E. M. Cuthbert (honorary secretary). Mrs 'G. R. Baker was elected a member of the committee. Matters connected with the display of leather and other work by disabled soldiers at the Winter Show were discussed, and it was reported that the display would be a good one. Members of the auxiliary would provide the attendants. The following were appointed a decoration committee in connection with the stall: Mesdames Bishop, Benzie. Dawson, Holmes, Morten, Kelly and Miss Raphael. Miss Rogers offered the use of a room at the Y.M.C.A. for a working bee to arrange the decorations. Messrs W. E. Leadley and E. F. Willcox attended, and addressed the meeting on the arrangements for the stall. It was stated that her Excellency Lady Bledisloe would visit the stall at 3.45 p.m. on Monday, August 8. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Holmes for her successful concert in aid of the funds of the auxiliary, the proceeds of which amounted to £B. Mr Wilicox conveyed the thanks of the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association to the members of the auxiliary for the good work they were doing for the ex-servicemen.
