ASHBURTON STOCK SALE.

(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, August 2. In consequence of the double market, there was a large entry of fat sheep at the Ashburton yards to-day, but prices, on the average, were slightly easier compared with the Tinwald sale last week. Up to noon, the top price, 16s 7d, went to Mrs E. Lill, Gceenstreet, for two wethers. The next best, 15s 4d, was secured by H. G. Lill, Willowby, for a pen of three wethers. .Two lambs sold singly on account of Mrs A. Prattley, Longbeaeh, and T. Read, Flemington, brought 14s 6d and 14s 4d respectively. Two extra prime ewes, vended on account of a client, brought 13s 7d, while L. R. Taylor. Fairton, secured up to 10s 4d for a pen of six. Moore Bros., Seaview, and 1.. R. Taylor, Fairton, secured up to 10s. In the fat cattle section sales were: Cow, £6; heifer, £5 10s; steers, £9 7s 6d and £lO 17s 6d; heifer in profit, £3 10s.
