CHRISTCHURCH W.C.T.U.
Miss Henderson presided at the usual fortnightly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the W.C.T.U. A vote of sympathy was passed to the relative* of the late Mr Field. Messages of sympathy in their illness were sent to Mesdames T. E. Taylor and E. Lichfield. More members volunteered to assist with the street collection in aid of the orphanages. To celebrate the ninety-first birthday of the senior member, Mrs Israelson, the president presented her with a posy of flowers and a long service medal for over thirty years of active service for the union. Mrs Pedler, also a senior member, was presented with a posy of flowers and a long service medal. To celebrate T. E. Taylor Memorial Day, the president asked Mrs Frank Thompson to give an address. During the afternoon pianoforte solos were rendered by Miss PI. M. Thomas. •
