BOOKS FOR CAMPS.

Appeal to Public Brings Prompt Response. The public has met the offer of the “ Christchurch Star ” and “ Christchurch Times” delivery salesmen to collect literature in their own time from subscribers on behalf of men in relief camps, with an immediate and gratifying response. Arrangements for the distribution of the books*, magazines and papers that have been collected are well in hand. To men shut out from the ordinary comforts of life reading material in all its various forms is very welcome, for it affords them an opportunity of breaking the tedium of their lot, and donations of books and magazines form gifts that are greatly valued and appreciated. The collection by the “ Star ” and “Times” men has already begun and residents wishing to make donations have only to advise the delivery roundsmen, who will pick up the gifts on their rounds. Donations may also be left at the publishing department of New Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., on the ground floor in Gloucester Street. A Big Donation. The Lyttelton representative of New Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., has already received over one hundred books from the Watersiders’ Library.
