J.P.’S ASSOCIATION.

Officers for the Year are Elected. The fourteenth annual meeting- of the Canterbury Justices of the Peace Association was held last evening, Mr A. H. Hobbs presiding over an attendance of thirty members and their wives. The annua! report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, his Honor Mr Justice Adams; vice-patrons, Messrs H. P. Lawry, S.M., E. D. Mosley, S.M., H. A. Young, S.M., H. Holland, M.P., J.P., and H. Y. Widdowson; president, Mr A. H. Hobbs; vicepresidents, Messrs F. H. Christian, G. E. Franklin and A. Williams: council, Messrs H. F. Herbert. G. Maginness, P. B. Creswell, C. H. Gilby, J. J. Hurley and J. Vos3; registrar, Mr J. W. Baty; honorary auditors, Messrs Alfred Marshall and J. Mawson Stewart. Votes of thanks were passed to the past year’s officers. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr H. Y. Widdowson for his services as honorary solicitor to the association. At the conclusion of the meeting a number of films were shown by Mr C. J. Treleaven, J.P. The pictures shown included “ Southern Peaks,” “ Geyser Valley ” and " Submarine Catching.”
