WORK FOR TEACHERS.
Operation of Rationing Scheme. As a result of the operation of the Canterbury Education Board’s rationing scheme, it is expected that all of the 279 graded teachers who are on the board's unemployment register will be given more than six months’ work this year. About half of the unemployed teachers were given work during the first term this year, and the remainder, together with a number of those who were employed during the first term, have been provided with positions in the present term. They are being employed as relieving teachers, additional assistants and probationary assistants as vacancies occur. A message from Dunedin tates that the Otago Education Board has 150 graded teachers on its unemployment register, and under the rationing scheme 130 relieving teachers and additional assistants are employed monthly. It is expected that all will receive at least six months’ work this year.
