FAST TRIP BY AIR.

To Auckland and Back in Eleven Hours.

Fast time for the trip by air from Christchurch to Auckland and back was put up by Squadron-Leader M. C. M’Gregor, Avho landed at Wigram Aerodrome yesterday afternoon, having accomplished the double journey in llhr 2min actual flying time. Flying a Spartan, Squadron-Leader M’Gregor left Christchurch on Wednesday at noon with one 'passenger on an urgent trip to Auckland. He landed at the Rongotai Aerodrome at 1.50 p.m. Fifteen minutes were occupied in refuelling. New Plymouth was reached in an hour and forty-five minutes later. After another fifteenminute stop for refuelling, the 'plane left for Auckland, which was reached in an hour, and a half, Squadron-Leader M’Gregor making a perfect landing by the lights of five motor-cars at the Mangere Aerodrome. The total time for the trip was shr 35min. The return trip was made in even faster time. Leaving Auckland at 10 a.m., the ’plane arrived at Wanganui at 12.15 p.m.: a short stop for refuelling, artd a fast trip to Wellington, which Avas reached in fifty-six minutes. Christchurch was reached at' 2.16 p.m., the total flying time for the journeybeing shr ?7min. The weather was fine all the way during both trips.
