POUND SCHEME.

Meeting Held at West Christchurch. Very few attended the meeting held at the West Christchurch School last evening. However, preparations for collecting were made. Mr V. French promised that he would see that the district between Cathedral Square and Bealey Avenue on the west side of Colombo Street would be canvassed. Varsity students had already offered to help. It was decided to accept the kind offer of the students, who were prepared to sacrifice their time in the work. Mr G. P. Purnell, representing the Church of Christ, stated that several helpers were available, and they were prepared to take over an area. Mr French was appointed to wait on Mr A. J. M’Eldowney, of the V.M.C.A., to see whether unemployed boys could be used in the collecting of goods. The public would be canvassed, and it would make collecting much easier if unemployed boys could be used. It was decided to use the West Christchurch School as a receiving depot. The first collection will probably be made on July 9.
