VICTIMISATION?

Complaint of a Relief Worker. An allegation that he had been dismissed from a relief job in the Wainoni district in the Ileathcote County was made this morning by Mr F. W. Menzies. a single returned soldier, who has been getting city work on account of war injuries. Mr Menzies stated that he had inquired at the Labour Bureau why he had been put off, and had been told by two officials that it was because of his political opinions. Ilis case had been taken up by Mr J. M’Combs, M.P , who reported that the Heathcote county clerk had stated that he had been dismissed because the foreman had reported him for unsatisfactory work. The foreman, however, had expressed satisfaction with his work and had stated that he was still on the payroll. Mr Menzies is a member of the Socialist Party. His case is being investigated by the Unemployed Workers’ Movement, who consider it looks like one of victimisation.
