Christ’s College and Lincoln Agricultural College played their annual matches, the game between the senior teams taking place at Lincoln, while the second fifteens met at the Christ’s College ground, Rolleston Avenue. Both matches were well contested, Lincoln securing the victory in the game between the first fifteens, whilst the Christchurch team was successful in the other match. FIRST FIFTEENS. The Lincoln senior team were heavier than Christ’s College, this advantage being particularly noticeable in the scrummage, where the visitors were quite outweighted and were frequently pushed back over the ball after they had succeeded in hooking it. In consequence the Christ’s College backs were somewhat starved for the ball and, although they made full use of the opportunities which came their way, they suffered defeat by a nine points margin, the final score being 20-11 in favour of the borne team. Mr R. Calder was referee. SECOND FIFTEENS. In the match between the second fifteens the two combinations were evenly matched. Lincoln College had the better of the first spell, which ended with the score S-nil in their favour, but they fell away in the second spell When they added only three points to their preinterval total. Tapley (2) and Anderson notched tries for Christ’s College, Donnelly converting one of them and also kicking a goal from a penalty.
