THE COOK STATUE.
Work of Erecting Base Now in Hand. A start has beqn made with the work of erecting the base for the Cook statue in the soutr-eastern corner of the reserve in Victoria Square. The work is being carried out by the sculptor, Mr W. T. Trethewey, and it is hoped to have it completed in time to place the statue in position in August. The total height of the base and the statue will be 22ft.
