Is it an Injustice?

To tlie Editor. Dear Sir.—May I call attention to an injustice which is being perpetrated in the city almost weekly by various organisations which are endeavouring to raise funds for charity. I refer to cake-stalls, which are to be found in the city almost every Saturday morning. I consider that these stalls bring hardship to the proprietors of cake shops. Many of these business people have been very generous in the past, giving freely to needy organisations, but to-day they are struggling to make ends meet. They have to pay high overhead expenses, rates and taxes, whereas these occasional stalls pay nothing and occupy good stands for a few hours on the best morning of the week as far as the confectionery business is concerned. Probably the organisers of these efforts have -never looked at the matter in this light, bvit I do think it is a matter < which they should consider.
