Effects of Arbitration Act Amendment The opinion that the amendments to Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act would have their effects on manufacturing interests, for the reason that the market of New Zealand manufacturers was almost wholly a local one, and any reduction in earnings in the Dominion would be reflected in the value of the products sold, was expressed by Mr S. Takle, the president, at the annual meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Takle said when the manufacturer was called upon to take part in the fixing of wages and conditions he would be torn between the necessity for maintaining national spending power and the desire for cheaper production.
