BOROTRA AND BETTY.
Frenchman’s Birthday Kisses for English Girl. PARIS, May 29. ! When Miss Betty Nuthall arrived in Paris to play in the championships on her twenty-first birthday, the French tennis player, Jean Borotra, the “ bounding Basque,” removed his famous beret with a flourish, seized both her hands, and resoundingly kissed her on both cheeks. “ That’s my private greeting,” he declared. Then he turned to the photographers, saying: ‘‘You can take this.” He formally bowed and kissed Betty’s hand. Betty says that she does* not intend to spend the £IOO cheque her mother gave her for not smoking in buying Paris finery, and she does not see the slightest reason why she should smoke or drink cocktails now that she has turned 21.
