An Interest Problem •
To tho Editor. Dear Sir, —Can you inform me as to what interest should be charged in the following case? : A mortgage of some years’ standing at 6£ per cent was voluntarily reduced to 6 per cent last year. Must it now be reduced 20 per cent on the 6 per cent rate, which would be less than 5 per cent, or will it be reduced from 6$ per cent?—l am. etc., L JP. The 20 per cent reduction applies to the rate of 6£ per cent.—Ed., “ Star.”
