LEAK DEVELOPED.

Steamer Pakeha Returns to Port. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 19. The Shaw, Savill liner Pakeha returned to port at 5.40 this morning. The vessel developed a slight leak after leaving Auckland last Saturday for London, via Cape Horn. The leak is understood to be a comparatively slight one, but in view of the fact that the ship is fully laden with a valuable cargo of frozen meat and dairy produce, and that she has a long run, some 6000 miles, to Montevideo, it was deemed proper to put back to the nearest port, which was Wellington. It is understood that no damage has been caused to the cargo. Until a survey is made it will not be known how serious the leak is. The leak is understood to be slight and the damage to the cargo is small.
