The St John Ambulance Association’s conveyances travelled about twice as far in the year ended on April 30, 1932, compared with the previous year. For the twelve months just ended the total mileage for the No. 1 and No. 2 motor ambulances, and the Hospital Board ambulance, was 19,807, and the monthly average 1650. When these figures were reported to the meeting of the association last night Mr H. L. Bowker asked whether that meant that there was twice the number of accidents. The chairman (Dr J. R. Thomas) contented himself with replying that the vans were doing twice the amount of work.
