PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mrs J. R. Kirby and Mrs K. Young, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs A. D. Moore, Spreydon, Christchurch. Miss Frances Clibborn, Christchurch, is staying with Mrs F. W. Meyer, Ladbrooks, for the school holidays. Miss Joy Bartley, Epsom, Auckland, has returned home after a visit to Christchurch. Lady Raws, who has been on a tour of New Zealand, has left by the Niagara for Sydney. Miss Marjorie Vaile, Epsom, Auckland, has returned home from a visit to Christchurch and Wellington. Mr and Mrs Harold Barker, Fendalton, intend visiting Auckland next month, and will be the guests of Lady Nolan, Parnell. Mrs Edgar Stead, Ilam, Riccarton, will leave next week for Auckland to join the Mataroa for a trip to England. Mr and Mrs Vesey Hamilton and their children, Cashmere Hills, are spending the school vacation at Sumner. Mrs Llyn Lawrence and her children, Fendalton, will leave this week to visit Mrs Geoffrey Gerard, Mt. Hutt. Miss Sheila Todd, Wellington, is at present the guest of Miss Meta Nixon, Fendalton. Mrs Harold Brinsden, Carlton Avenue, Mount Eden, is accompanying her husband to Australia for the KirkWindeyer golf cup contests. Mrs Gerald Hamilton, who has been visiting friends in Christchurch, returned to her home in North Canterbury to-day. Miss Barbara Rutherford, Marlborough, who has been staying with friends in Christchurch, returned home to-day. Mrs George Gould and Miss Barbara Gould, Fendalton. who have been visiting Timaru, will return home tomorrow. The marriage of Mr L. M. J. Balfour and Lady Myrtle Jellicoe will take place on June 11. The ceremony will |be performed in London at All Souls, Langham Place. Visitors staying at the New City Hotel include Mr and Mrs R. D. Gill, Mrs PI. Burkhart and blisses R. Hunt, B. Burkhart and P. Burkhart (Dunedin). The latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal are:—Mr R. C. Hurst (Timaru), Mr D. Sidey (Hawarden) and Miss De Mons (Dunedinh Miss Gladys Lorimer, the New Zealand coloratura soprano, is touring with the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Co. as a guest artist, and is singing leading roles in “ Maritana,” “ Rigoletto ” and “ Tales of Hoffmann.”
