AIRMAN MISSING.
Young German Pilot Fails to Reach Darwin. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy r i gh t. SYDNEY, May 17. Considerable anxiety is felt for the safety of a young German aviator Hans Bertram, who left Koepang at midnight on Sunday in a Junkers flving-boat, to cross the Timor Sea. according to wireless reports from Darwin, where he has not arrived. Herr Bertram, who is on his way from Hong Kong to Australia, was expected at Darwin yesterday, and there has been no report of him since he left. The aviator is now much overdue. His machine was not fitted with wireless. The authorities are making investigations and Government wireless stations have asked that a look-out be kept. DESTROYER TO SEARCH. (Received May 18, 12.30 p.m.) BATAVIA. May 17. The destroyer Flores has been sent to Koepang to search for the missing Junkers flying boat, and all ships have been asked to be on the look-out.
