OBITUARY.

JOHN HARROD BEAGLEY. The late Mr J. H. Beagley wa,s born in Belfast nineteen years ago, received his education at the Belfast School and Christchurch Technical College and was a student at Canterbury College at the time of his death. He became a member of the juvenile lodge of the Papanui branch of Oddfellows at its inception in August, 1928, and was appointed its first N.G. Later he transferred to the senior lodge where he remained a valued member up to the time of his death. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Belfast Cemetery. Forty cars followed the hearse. The service was taken at the house and at the graveside by Canon H. O. ITanby, after which the Loyal Papanui Oddfellows' service was read by N.G. Bro. R. Arnold. Bros. A. Dixon, A. M’Fadden, W. J. Brown, H. N. Simmons, R. Arnold and G. Tichurst of the Papanui Oddfellows’ Lodge were the pall-bear-ers.

JONAS MASTERS. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 17. The death occurred at Stratford tonight of Mr Jonas Masters, aged seventy-six, founder of the firm of Masters. Ltd., and father of the Hon Robert Masters, Minister of Education. LATE CAPTAIN HATCHWELL The funeral of the late Captain Robert Hatchwell, of Lyttelton, which took place yesterday afternoon at the Lyttelton Public Cemetery, was largely attended. The service at St John’s Presbyterian Church was conducted by the Moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery, the Rev J. A. Allan, assisted by the Rev F. J. Tylee and the Rev W. R. Hutchison. Mr Tylee conducted the service at the grave-side. The chief mouners were Mr H. G. Hatchwell (son), the Rev G. Wood (son-in-law) and Mr George March. The pall-bearers were Messrs 11. Holderness (manager for 'the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., at Christchurch), R. C. Skipage (Lyttelton manager for the New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd.), R. Erwin, O. Guy, W. Millar and F.
