THE THAMES BOYCOTT.

Education Board will Hold Inquiry. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May IS. The alleged boycotting of business people at Thames was discussed in committee to-day by the Education Board. The Minister of Education sent correspondence regarding the matter and asked the board to conduct a full .inquiry into the case so far as it related to the activities of individual teachers in the board’s employ or to their organisations. The board decided that an inquiry should be held in Thames next week. It was alleged in the House last week that in Thames, through the agency of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association there, a Public Service boycott of business people who had refused to sign the recent petition against further wage and salary reductions was attempted. A sequel was the announcement yesterday that the Government had withdrawn its recognition of the P. and T. Employees’ Association. Certain privileges had been withdrawn, including the right to put association notices in Post Offices and the right of representatives to put the employees’ case to the Department and the Ministry.
