Dickens Fellowship Brings Cheer to Children.

V of * he Dickens Fellowship of Christchurch to keep alive the true spirit of Charles Dickens, and it was felt that at this time of the year something special should be done to bring cheer into the lives of children. It was with this worthy object that members of the Fellowship organised an outing to Waikuku to-day for some thirty children who have in the main been under treatment, at the orthopaedic department at the Christchurch Hospital and unable to walk. The starting point for this afternoon’s outing saw numerous cars generously placed at the disposal of the Fellowship, and a more than sufficient quantity of the delicacies that gladden the hearts of all youngsters. A start was made at 2 p.m. for the beach, and all arrangements went off perfectly. There was even a nurse from the orthopaedic department of the hospital to attend the children. The president of the Fellowship (Mrs W, Macliin) and the acting-secretary, MisS> Mabel Smith, with the able assistance of Colonel A. E. Loach, were responsible for the arrangements. Those who lent cars were: Mesdames R. Malcolm, W. H. Clark, Miss Joy Musgrove, Messrs A. K. Anderson, W. F. Newburgh. A. K. Cooper, G. M. Smith, Harold Bradley, A. O. Wilkinson, W. Machin. W.
