CHRISTMAS DAY SPORTS.
The annual sports meeting of the Mairehau Sports Club will be held at English Park on Christmas afternoon, commencing at two o’clock. A particularly attractive programme of cycling and running has been arranged, the chief event being the quar-ter-mile New Zealand cycling championship. This race will be a series of match races between the best riders in the Dominion. Other events are:—The Mairehau Wheel Race of one mile and handicap races, including a half-mile novice championship. Three running races are also to be decided. With the cycling track in first-class order and the riders trained to the minute, the racing promises to be exceptionally keen. The first event is timed to start at two o’clock.
