HORNBY SCHOOL PICNIC.
The Hornby School picnic, which was postponed recently owing to wet weather, was held on the recreation ground on Thursday evening, when the school prizes were presented, and several races for children from fourteen years downwards were run. The 220yds championship resulted:—G. Withers 1, F. Baker 2. 100yds, girls' cup, G. M’Kenzie 1. The school tennis championships (silver cups, given by Mr G. Dickie) were won by:—Girls, Melba M’Lean; boys, Charlie Slade. The following school prizes were presented by Mr F. M'Teigue (chairman): -—Dux medal (given by Mr J. Allan), Malcolm Conway; second prize (given by Mr F. Richards), Patricia Moore; cooking prize for Standard V. (given by Mrs Moore), M. Huffadine. ZrOdge Meeting. The fortnightly mteeting of Lodge Olive Branch, No. 18, U.AO.D., was presided over by Arch-Druid Brother Bannerman. There was a large attendance of members. Sick accounts amounting to £2 were passed for payment. The following visiting members attended:— P.G.P. Brother F. George, P.G.P. Brother Parker (Grand Secretary), and Brother Talbot (G. Guardian), Barnes, and Rowe, of the Old Oak Lodge.
