Young Boy’s Long Series of Thefts. The adventures of a twelve and a half-year-old boy who stole at various times goods and money to a total value of £9 18s—including a set of Yale keys with which he could get into his employer’s premises at any time—were told in the Children's Court this morning, when Messrs H. A. Young, SM, W. M. West, J.P., and Mrs T. E. Taylor, J.P., were on the bench. Chief-Detective Carroll said that the boy, when staying with friends in Waltham, stole sums of £2 and 10s. Later he gained employment in a shoe store, and from there disappeared four pairs of shoes, 30s in money, and four Yale keys. He had sold two pairs of the shoes, one of which had been recovered. The money had been spent on sweets and amusements. The boy was one of a family of seven, with a widowed mother, who was working mother, who was working and was unand was unable to keep proper control, over the boy. The case was adjourned until Wednesday to allow the mother to find out if relatives in Napier would take the boy. . " -
