AUNT HILDA’S LETTER.
TOYLAND VISITORS.
JEREMIAH COMES TO STARLAND. J)EAR GIRLS AND BOYS,-*-What a merry place Aunt Hilda works in these days, and all sorts of queer people keep arriving from Toyland. Ever since our big display ended, the parcels have still poured in, and although demands are the heaviest this year ever they’ve been, we have still enough. How I hope the supply lasts out right till the last request has been met. Such lots of mothers have come to seek assistance for their little ones, and it has been such a real joy to know that we can still preserve the essence of Christmas in spite of the worst that a hard year can do. So, little people, please be happy in the knowledge that we have radiated kindness and goodwill to every person alike, irrespective of class, colour or creed. Nothing else matters but that they are in need and that they most truly are. I like to take a lesson from kind old Mr Sun. He shines away in the sky for thousands of years and millions of days, giving health and energy and life itself to everything, yet never becoming depleted himself. Giving doesn’t make us any poorer; it makes us richer in .such lots of ways. Mr Sun is still as beautiful and as bright as ever he was. Isn’t he? But I nearly forgot! I wanted to tell you of the fattest, most cuddlesome toy of all. He is a kind grey knitted elephant, nearly as large as the dear little girl who brought him to me. She had guessed his name was “ Jeremiah ” and won him as a prize. So Jerry then came to Starland, and from there he will journey to a home where his fat sides will give comfort and cheer to some little person who needs it. I’d like to keep Jerry in Starland, but with Mr Joke-box fatter than ever, I can hardly spare the room! I’d like you to see Jerry the elephant. He may still be here when you 1 come for your tiny piece of cake! (Are you coming?) Just imagine! Next Thursday is the day of days! The day when dear old Santa spreads again his message of cheer and goodwill and optimism. Cheerio little people. Didn’t you just love our beautiful Christmas page last Thursday? I think it was easily the best yet. If Father Christmas tells you what lIE thought, please tell me. Joy and happiness be yours is the wish of P.S.—Another Christmas page will appear in next Thursday’s Comic, and don’t forget your Christmas visit up the stairs of Starland. The decorations and the cake are here.—A.H.
