BANKS COLLEGE,

Prizes and Certificates are Presented. ANNUAL BREAK-UP. The annual break-up of Banks Commercial College was held at the Jellicoe Hall last night. The prizes and certificates were presented by Miss E. A. Chapman, who congratulated Miss Archer, the principal, on the fine spirit she was imparting to the pupils. Mr J. Wyn-Irwin also spoke. Miss I. M. Archer, principal of the college, stated in her report that the year had been successful in every direction. Three girls (Bernice Gentles, Jessie Wilson and Hilda! Gribble) had been awarded the Ortler of Gregg - Artists’ Award in London examinations. In the public service examinations, thirty-two candidates had been presented, and all passed, securing first, second and third in both senior and junior sections. None of the pupils had been old enough to sit for the intermediate public service examination. The following is the prize list:— Expert short-hand-writer, gold medallist, highest marks in shorthand speed, 170 words per minute: Doris E. Price. Typewriting, gold medal for highest aggregate marks in typewritihg: Phyllis M. Goddard.
