The extent to which Otago will benefit as the result of the stronger market this year is indicated by a comparison between yesterday’s wool auction and the sale of December last year. The average price per pound in December last was less than shd, and the average return per bale was £7 3s lid, making a gross return for the sale of £71,362 3s sd. Yesterday the estimated average per pound was 6Sd or £8 15s a bale, which should result in the distribution during the coming week of £115,000.
