Mrs B. H. Howell (“ Matata,” Cave) has returned from Christchurch.

Miss Eva Cocks (Nile Street) is spending a few days in Christchurch. Mrs R. B. Bell (“Arden,” Wai-iti Road) will leave to-day to spend a few days in Christchurch. Mrs W. Priest (Bank Street) left on Saturday to stay with her daughter, Mrs George Shirtcliffe (Wellington). Mrs Ashley M’lnnes, Temuka, has returned from a visit to her mother, w Mrs Ellis, Dunedin. j Mrs A. Fell, who has been staving with her mother, Mrs Hayhurst,' Temuka, has returned to Blenheim. Miss Nancy Bridges (Selwyn Street), has returned from Wellington to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs G. A. Bridges (Selwyn Street). Mrs J. P. Newman (“ Clovelly,” Nelson Terrace), who has been staying with the Misses Newman (Christchurch), has returned home. Mr and Mrs J. A. Mullins (Hampton House Flats), who have been on a fishing trip to Lake Alexandrina, have returned home. Engagements. The engagement is announced of Hinemoa, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Williams, Timaru, and Denis, eldest son of Mr John and Mrs Cremin, Timaru. The engagement is announced between James Hardwick, only son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Healey, Hart Street, Timaru, and Daphne Doris, second daughter of Mr and Mrs E. W. Townsend, Hassall Street, Timaru.
