ANNUAL DANCE.

Large Gathering at the Winter Garden. TELEPHONE EXCHANGE. In spite of the warmth of the evening and the fact that the dancing season is almost ended, the gatherings held last night were in no wav affected. The staff dances were well patronised. The Winter Garden was thronged with dancers when the Christchurch Telephone Exchange held its annual dance. The Bailey-Marston orchestra supplied the music. The guests of honour were:—The Mayor and Mayoress, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., and Mrs Sullivan, Mr and Mrs J. S. Neville, Mr .T. C. Fairbairn (District Telegraph Engineer), Mr F. J. Shanks (Chief Postmaster), Mr R. T. C. Roberts (Telegraph Engineer) and Miss Hettie Roberts. Mrs Sullivan wore a smart black georgette frock with flares of black lace in the skirt and a short black georgette coatee relieved with beige and red chenille. Mrs Neville was in a black ring velvet frock with a front panel of rose and black chenille. Miss Roberts wore a dainty sunset pink georgette frock with a wine red lace coatee with deep collar and cuffs of white fur. The committee comprised:—Misses M. Hawke and Thelma Lowe, Messrs L. J.
