TEACHING OF SWIMMING.
School Children to have Free Use of Baths. The free use of the Municipal Baths for primary school children for two hours in each of six weeks commencing from the first Saturday in September has been granted by the Baths Committee of the City Council. A total of 944 passes to pupils who cannot swim have been issued to date, and it is expected that after the holidays applications from several other schools will be made. The baths will be open to two classes each Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11 and from 11 a.m. till noon. An endeavour will be made to give instruction in the art of swimming by way of demonstration. This is the first occasion on which this privilege has been granted.
