Mr H. A. Foster i (Auckland) is a guest at the Royal Hotel. Messrs F. Jackson (Dunedin) and C. W. Rudd (Wellington) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Messrs S. T. Lawrenson and S. J. Newlands were passengers from the north this morning. Messrs M. D. Warren, W. Smithers (Wellington), L. J. Evans and T. M. Evans (New Plymouth) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Mr IC. Anderson, St Andrew’s College, will leave on Monday on a visit to Wellington. A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr J. Sutherland was passed at the meeting of the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening A vote of sympathy with Mr D. Hope, curator, in the loss of his wife, was passed at the meeting of the council of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last evening. The friends of Mr E. J. Hubbard will regret to learn that he is seriously ill in the Christchurch Hospital. Mr Hubbard has for a number of years been a member of the staff of Blackwell Motors, Ltd. The Rev IF. Taylor, of the London Missionary Society, who is stationed at Niue Island, is making a round trip in the motor-ship Maui Pomare, which left Lyttelton for Wellngton y esterda’' Mr J. Wadsworth, director of the Apia Observatory, is a passenger in the motor-ship Maui Pomare, which sailed from Lyttelton yesterday, for Wellington. He is making a brief j visit to New Zealand. j Messrs F. W. Freeman and J. S. Hawkes, representing the South Island Motor Union, will take part in a conference at the North Island Motor Union annual meeting in Flawera concerning motor taxation. They will also on behalf of the motorists of the Dominion gave evidence before a select committee of Parliament set up to consider matters of highway finance.
