Stowed Away on Day He Was Fined. OFFENCES BY FIREMAN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 20. Thopgh fined £2 in Christchurch on Tuesday for attempting to stow away on the T - ‘telton ferry steamer, James Timothy Rowlings, aged twenty-nine, a fireman, stowed away the same day in the steamer Gale. “He is an active member of the Communist Party,” said Sub-Inspector Ward, in Court to-day, “ and we have reason to believe that he is travelling about in connection with Communistic activities.” Accused denied that he had gone to Christc’.”rch on Communistic work.
