ADDINGTON NOTES

INTERESTING WORK. Thursday. Owing to the heavy frost, train in work at Addington this morning wa delayed till late. The track was ver\ hard and a strong wind came up later in the morning. There was a large crowd of spectators and although no particularly fast work was done it was of a very interesting character. Aileen' Wood. Grand Light, Brentlight and Belinda started off in that order for a mile and a half work out. Just before the first round was completed Delightful joined in at the back of the quartette. The order was not changed till the straight was reached the last time, when all the horses were going at top speed and Delightful came home an easy winner. Belinda was eased near the post. Aileen Wood went particularly well and so did Brentlight. Gold Country started about a couple of lengths in front of Our George and was racing well out from the rails til! the back stretch was reached the first time. Our George then closed up to Gold Country and for the rest of the mile and a half work out the pair kept close together. Our George finishing about a length in front. The distance was covered in good time and both pacers went well. Tom Thumb, who looks in fine order, went'a mile and a quarter, pacing fast in patches, but the time for the journey was not fast, as he was not extended all the way.

Stanley T. went with Holly Bank for two miles. The first half of the work out was not fast, but speed was increased over the last mile, and in the final quarter the pacer and the trotter were hard at it. Ilolly Bank finished about a length in front of Stanley T. The latter was seen at his best over the concluding stages. _T. G. Fox’s young pacer, Desert Maiden, by Speck—Lovebird, and the trotter Nelson Boy went about a mile and a quarter, but they were not asked to do their best. Mister Pointer, who looks very well, worked a mile and a half, well within his powers. lie was eased up over the last quarter of a mile. Jewel Pointer, who looks a good deal lighter than when he last raced here, was given easy work, sprinting a quarter at the conclusion of his task. Mountain Dell went a fast mile and a half by herself, but the Aucklander's form did not please the critics. Regal Voyage covered a little more than a mile and a half without the hopples, moving very freely. She looks in fine order.

Steel All and Sodium, both without hopples, went a mile and a-half at a good speed. Steel All led his companion throughout and the pair came the last quarter of a mile at top speed One of the fastest work-outs of the morning was done by Somerby and Vesuvius, who went a mile and aquarter. Vesuvius led his stablemate throughout, and the two pacers got through their work well. Erin’s Lynn worked two miles, driven by her owner. At the end of a round, which was not done fast, she was joined by Macaranda, who went the last mile and a quarter with her. Erin’s Lynn, who is a lazy worker, did not finish on as well as in some of her previous efforts. Macaranda paced a good mile and a quarter. Locanda Boy was accompanied by a maiden pacer in a work-out of two miles. Locanda Boy was at top speed over the last half mile and he paced in improved form. Warplane was not to do hja best at any stage of a work-out ov# two miles.

Proud Dillon, Native Prince, Colonial Boy, Great Ballin and Major Lind started off in that order for a workout over a mile and a quarter. Native Prince going without hopples. They ran in the same order in which they started till the straight was reached, when top speed was turned on. Native Prince was first to the post, followed by Colonial Boy, Major Lind and Proud Dillon. A little less than a fufw long from the winning post Great Ballin, who was then well placed, broke badly and finished last. Audominion and Lady Fan went a mile and a half, the latter being much too good for her companion. Meteor led Nelson Ata till a furlong from home in a work-out of a mile and a half, when the trotter was sent hard at it and he finished up in front. Meteor was not asked to finish fast. Rose Audo was worked by horsed over a mile and a half, going without any mistakes throughout the journey. Imprint and Peter Pirate worked two miles at a slow speed. The Nelson pacer led throughout the journey, Peter Pirate failing to begin well John Jinks started off about lour lengths in front of Banffshire Lad, the pacer going a mile and a half. The speed was not turned on till the last quarter of a mile, when the pacers were sent at top. John Jinks was on h«« best behaviour and paced fast. He showed improved form and was well ahead of his stable mate at the end. Jolly Pet covered about two miles at a solid speed.
