SENIOR GAMES. Grounds were again fast for the matches played this afternoon, and matches were keenly contested. SELWYN v. REDCLITPS. S. Bell put in an enrly shot for Selwyn that Greenland cleared. Fairly oven up-and-down play ensued, each side shooting behind several times. Harper put in a fast run on the right for Redcliffs. Bellamy kicked out a shot from Thompson. Redcliffs wore awarded a penalty corner. Selwyn could not get going in a properly combined rush. Lane put the ball in the goal from a penalty corner, but had given "sticks’*. Oliff put across a good centre, from which Fullwood shot wide. A moment later Fullwood opened Selwyn’s account. Selwyn 1, Redcliffs 0, The score at half-time was: Selwyn 1, Redcliffs 0. Play in the opening stages of the second spell was even. Redcliffs’s bustling tactics seemed to prevent the Selwyn forwards from getting going properly. Lane put in a good run on the left and centred, S. Bell following in to score off the goalkeeper’s pads. Selwyn 2, Redcliffs 0. Redcliffs took play upfield and forced three corners. Greenland turned off a Selwyn shot for a corner. Time was called with Selwyn attacking, and the score:—SELWYN 2 REDCLIFFS 0 Referee: Mr C. Bellamy. VARSITY v. TRINITY. Play was fast in the opening stages, Varsity looking the more dangerous. M’Cormick burst through for Trinity, Peebles saving. Varsity came through from a free hit and Turbitt shot cleverly. Trinity had a spell on attack. Turbitt scored a beautiful backhand goal but sticks was given against him, and another shot was tipped over the bar. A nice centre by Forman was turned to account by Davis. Half-time score: Varsity 2, Trinity 1. Trinity had all the better of the opening stages, but a sound defence stopped them. Ford broke through to shoot, and Turbitt netted off the rebound. Trinity came away and M’Cormick goaled. Trinity were playing up to their form and play hovei'ed in the Varsity circle. Forman shot and Burberv tipped the ball into the net. Varsity took the lead when Turbitt netted with a neat shot. Trinity were battling well and from a melee M’Donald scored. The game ended in a draw. VARSITY 4 TRINITY 4 Referees: Messrs R. Grade and H. Teague. TECHNICAL V SYDENHAM. Even play marked the opening stages of the game. Sherriffs put in a good run on Sydenham’s left, but off-side nullified. Technical attacked and Hills’s shot was stopped by Snooks, who conceded a corner. Technical returned the attack and from a melee in the circle Duftield netted. Technical 1, Sydenham 0. Technical attacked strongly but Dash relieved. Even play followed, the half-time score being: Technical 1. Sydenham 0. Technical opened the second spell with a determined attack. Dash relieving. Technical came away again and Grade centred for Duffield to shoot outside. A combined Technical effort was well saved by Snooks. Sydenham survived several Technical attacks, sound defence by Dash relieving. Sydenham returned play to Technical’s end, where Sherriffs registered for Sydenham. Technical I, Sydenham 1. Langridge took play down on the right, Technical conceding a corner from which Langridge netted with a hot shot. Sydenham 2, Technical 1. Sy&enham came again and Langridge centred for Burrows to score Sydenham’s third goal. Sydenham 3, Technical 1.
