HURUNUI HAS GOOD WIN OVER MALVERN.

Decided superiority in the backs gave Hurunui a win by 28 to 8 over Malvern at Waikari this afternoon. The forwards were well matched. Hurunui had a slight advantage in the tight but Malvern controlled the loose play. In the backs. Hurunui was much better in every department of the game. Maxwell (first five-eighth), Norton (half) and Hoskins (centre) played particularly good games. Malvern’s star back was Bull, on the wing. Taylor was safe at full-back. M’Millan scored three tries for the winners. Barrett and Ormand scored tries. Maxwell scored a try and converted three tries, and Stanaway converted two.
